Girls Varsity Cross Country
**In order to participate in summer conditioning you must bring a recent physical with you that has been completed by your physician. Wando athletics only accepts the form that is located on the 'Team Files' tab.
If you are interested in trying out for the Wando cross country team in August, then it is highly recommended that you participate in summer conditioning. This is an opportunity to get to know the runners from previous seasons and learn more about the sport. Conditioning with us is optional but will be very beneficial in order to be prepared for try outs.
The complete calendar is located on the 'Team Files' tab but here is the list of locations of where we meet each day that we run together. *We start each session promptly at 8:00am*
Monday- Isle of Palms- meet in the Harris Teeter parking lot
Tuesday- I'On Neighborhood- meet in the Square Onion courtyard
Wednesday- Patriot's Point- meet in the tennis courts parking lot
Thursday- Park West- meet in the parking lot between the track and the gym
Please note there are dates that we will not be meeting during the summer so look on the calendar to make sure we are meeting that day before showing up.
Cross Country Try Outs will be held Monday July 31- Thursday August 3, 2017. We will start each day at 7:00am by the track. In order to be eligible to try out, each runner will need to have an updated physical dated April 1, 2017-present. The exact order of the trials may change but here is the tentative plan for the week:
Monday- Timed 5k (3.1miles)
Tuesday- Timed 1600m (mile)
Wednesday- Timed 10k (6.2 miles)
Thursday- Long Run + Make-Ups for those that missed a day
***If you are interested in trying out please plan on attending these days. Make-ups after this week cannot be guaranteed since there are limited spots available. The sooner you know of a time conflict, please email and let me know so we can work out an alternate try out schedule.***
